Update on tickets and Canberra
Tickets at public events
There are now public events happening in 5 cities but tickets to most events have largely sold out! This morning the Gold Coast opened up some tickets as did Melbourne. Sydney is completely sold out as is Wellington and Canberra.
You can book remaining tickets and get details on events at http://tbldownunder.org/
If any tickets open up due to cancellations, we will make them available next Tuesday morning the 29th from 9am, so if your favourite venue is already sold out, make sure you are ready on the 29th to hit refresh at 9am!
We hope to be able to record and/or livestream the public lectures and will advise on options on this blog by Monday 28th January at the latest, so don’t despair if you missed out!
Canberra event combined to facilitate Gold Coast and New Zealand
Due to the excellent opportunities of adding the Gold Coast and Wellington (NZ) to the tour, the Canberra public lecture had to be cancelled and our wonderful friends on the linux.conf.au organising committee offered to let the public lecture attendees come to his linux.conf.au keynote. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this creates however, in getting Sir Tim to the Gold Coast and to Wellington, we are getting more people involved in the tour and building more public and government excitement and commitment to open data, open Web and open government, particularly given the excellent related activities happening in both the Gold Coast and Wellington.
linux.conf.au attendees will of course see the talk already as it is a keynote at the week long Open Source conference, as will attendees who paid for Open Government miniconf only tickets.
For those who reserved free tickets to the “Canberra public lecture”, we have a mezzanine in the linux.conf.au lecture hall where you will sit for Sir Tim’s keynote. linux.conf.au attendees will sit in the main hall.
For those who already puchased tickets specifically to see Sir Tim, the linux.conf.au organisers can refund you and you can sit in the mezzanine with the other public lecture attendees, or you can keep your paid ticket and sit in the main hall area.
Please note that this event is fully booked and no further tickets will be made available.
Again, we apologise for any inconvenience, and hope you understand the additional public good value of getting Sir Tim to two additional locations. The tour is a very hectic but epic schedule.
Cheers,
Pia
